London Fashion Week: Antonio Berardi
With London Fashion Week in full swing, the penultimate day of the capitals most highly anticipated week saw shows from the likes of Tom Ford, Mulberry and Issa. Antonio Berardi was another prominent name, starting the day off to showcase his very own SS15 collection.
Born in Lincolnshire, Antonio Berardi studied at London based Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. It was only in 1994 whilst still in his final year at Saint Martins where his collection attracted professional attention from London Buyers. Since then, Berardi has launched his own professional collection and has dressed the likes of Victoria Beckham and Eva Mendes. This year Berardi did not disappoint showcasing a spring summer collection that has everyone excited for 2015.
With a collection ranging in fabric type, prints and most notably, colour, it is clear that Berardi has attempted to encapsulate every type of spring summer woman, allowing his pieces to ooze appeal. Opening with a series of silk printed florals in a mixture of blues and khaki, the collection transitioned into bright orange and coral pieces before returning to more mellow black and white designs. The collection seemed inspired by the orient, with Asian floral prints appearing consistently throughout the show, and Chinese style silk dresses and kimonos also making a debut.
This SS15 the Berardi woman will take over the world.
Often noted for his dresses, Berardi added to his reputation this year with his collection providing dresses of all styles and designs. From a floating soft pink evening gown, to an asymmetrically cut black dress, to a white embellished shift dress, it is without doubt that Berardi’s vast array of trademark dresses will be set to appear on the red carpets next year.
The dresses were often teamed with coats and jackets featuring interesting folds and shapes, highlighting Berardi’s exquisite talent for tailoring. Other perfectly tailored jackets were matched with cigarette style trousers and markedly high waisted silk flares.
The final dress was showstopper to say the least: a sheer white floor length dress embellished with a detailed design of crystals. Fairy tail like in nature, the dress highlighted the elegance and grace that Berardi’s SS15 collection had in its entirety.
