Well-loved in the trade and renowned for her take on retro patterns and colour palettes, Orla Kiely takes to London Fashion Week again this September to showcase her perfectly charming SS15 collection. Following the success of the titled ‘Raining Cats and Dogs’ AW14 presentation that muffled cutesy with chic and the launch of the pre-SS15 collection that had us wanting more, the latest range blends the perfect ratio of statement patterns and colour-block staples. The alter neck has made itself known on the summer dresses, while the more sturdy pieces propose a playful professionalism. Next season also welcomes a perfect palette balance with blues and yellows defining the collection, khaki green and deep navy to tone down prints and pretty pinks to spruce it back up again.
Kiely never falls short of communicating a seasonal mood through colour, pattern and texture. Peter pan collars, soft pleats and pinched in waists also characterise Kiely’s style in a way that compliments every woman’s femininity, and these traits are more than evident for the upcoming season. With soft geometric prints running throughout, the range also takes on 60’s florals – a theme that seems to be cropping up across the board this LFW and solidified with ‘flower power’ backdrops and pots of flowers sprouting up across the presentation space. And to conclude, a Rolling Stones 1967 classic, ‘She’s a Rainbow’ providing the perfect soundtrack behind a story of summer and colour. We believe that Kiely’s creative flair has ticked all the right boxes with this collection; a collection that should complimented, admired and worn time and time again.
