What are your New Year’s Eve plans?

New Year’s Eve is a time fraught with worries: ‘what shall my resolutions be?’, ‘did I achieve enough this year?’, ‘why is time moving so fast?’ These may be some of the things that have crossed your mind post-Christmas, but perhaps your biggest worry is what you are going to be doing, when the bells ring in the New Year – especially if you are going to be in London.

So here’s a heads up for any late organisers. Below are three events that you may want to check out if staying in isn’t quite your style…

Lots to Splurge: Last Dance with Dippy – Natural History Museum

Unfortunately our good friend, the iconic Dippy the Diplodocus, will be removed from the Natural History Museum on January 5th to embark on a UK tour. Before then, the Museum is offering the opportunity to have a last dance with him at the New Year’s Eve ball. You can buy tickets for just the ball, or if you’re feeling super fancy, then you can also purchase a ticket for the dinner too. Be warned though, tickets start from £117.

Are they really worth it you might ask? –  The only way to find out is to go. I mean how many people will be able to boast of welcoming in the New Year beside a dinosaur?

If you like glitter: Love Come Down – Arch Gallery

If you are a big fan of glitter, sequins, and all things disco, then pick up a £10 ticket and head right over to the Arch Gallery in Bethnal Green. The night will consist of classic disco, funk and of course dancing is obligatory. So all that is left to say, is to make sure that you polish off your best dance moves and get your dancing shoes ready! What are you waiting for?

Something free: Club Tropicana – The Old George

Notably named after one of the late George Michael’s most well-known songs, Club Tropicana is an ‘80s themed night being held at the Old George pub in Bethnal Green. Expect groovy tunes, good company and the best thing about this event is that it is offering free entry between: 8pm and 3am. Definitely the one to go to if you have some serious last minute plans… Or if you want to pay tribute to a much loved and missed icon!
