Black Cab Speed Dating…

4 years ago Nicole Brownfield

If you are going to be single this Valentines and are already planning on sitting at home in your pyjamas, watching a soppy film (the Notebook is my personal favourite), and gorging yourself on a tub (or three) of Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream, then STOP!

TAXIAPP UK (https://www.taxiapp.uk.com) has joined forces with the ‘Date in a Dash’ (https://dateinadash.com) dating website to create a unique taxi-speed dating event this Valentines. What could be quirkier than a date in a taxi? Even if the night does not end in a match, you will have the chance to be driven around London and visit the most romantic roads and destinations it has to offer. The ‘Love Lanes’ have been derived from a survey in which 22,000 taxi drivers were asked to vote. Given the fact taxi drivers must have extensive knowledge of over 25,000 roads and over 10,000 points of interest, it is fair to say that we can trust the outcome of this poll! Over 50% of taxi drivers said that London’s bridges over the Thames make up some of the city’s most romantic drives and 20% voted parks and gardens as London’s ‘romantic hidden gems’. Other notable landmarks popular amongst taxi drivers include: Albert Bridge, Waterloo Bridge and The Embankment.

On the night (Friday the 16th of February for those of you who have already forgot), 10 black cab drivers will drive 20 couples around London, stopping every six minutes so that the lucky singletons can switch around and re-couple. Overall the journey will last around an hour and begins at JuJu, Chelsea Gardens at 7pm.

The aim of this event is to help reinstall a sense of pride in the black cab industry as well as bring people together through their mutual love and admiration for London’s landmarks.
