As I made my way down to Brixton Academy a few weeks ago I paused for a moment and looked up at the characteristic neon green glow of the O2 Academy as it came into sight, realising that my Easter Saturday was certainly a twist on the traditional family weekend at home. Fresh out of their sell-out North American Circuit which wowed crowds from Vancouver to Los Angeles, the dynamic Gorgon City were set to take to the stage in just a few hours’ time. I was about to witness the finale of the Kingdom UK and European tour, which without question, went off with a bang.

I headed into the crowd which was already gathering and waiting excitedly for not only a live show from the duo, but a DJ set too. It is safe to say that the world exclusive performance did not disappoint, with buoyant house beats and euphoric vibes that kept me dancing late into the night. The venue offered the perfect setting for the effortlessly electric rhythms which filled the ex-theatre with energy. The Academy delivers a space that feels intimate yet invigorating, where the crowd is powered by a beautiful ambiance which just kept on building throughout the show. This was definitely enhanced by the stunning visuals on the evening, with edgy pink geometric flashes providing a backdrop to the stage and beaming white lights illuminating the buzzing crowd.

After their three-year residency at the reputable Amnesia club in Ibiza, it is clear that Gorgon City know how to put on a show. Their music has evolved and grown consistently since their beginnings and the pair continue to astound crowds with their zeal and refreshing sound, which they undeniably brought to London over the Easter Weekend. For a taste of what they have to offer check out their 2018 release Motorola (check out the link for their most recent single here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI4-yxQVby4 ) which brings enormously tempting bass and is guaranteed to fire up any night out. The statistics also speak for themselves, Gorgon City are undoubtedly one of the UK’s finest dance music exports and have sold in excess of 2.5 million combined singles and albums worldwide. They have also worked alongside the likes of Jennifer Hudson, Duke Dumont, MNEK, Clean Bandit, Katy B and Wyclef Jean to drop a few name bombs! Keep your eyes peeled and ears listening for their upcoming work…
