Tanqueray Garden pop-up

With the British summer being its usual wet and miserable self, D&D London have come to the rescue with their Tanqueray gardens! This floral pop up at 100 Wardour Street is part of the #BlossomCity campaign which aims to create mini havens all around the city – and Tanqueray’s mobile gin bar is a must for any refuge! This iconic Soho spot is one of four indoor paradises providing some much needed foliage in the urban jungle – so if you miss this one you can head over to The Sipping Rooms in Canary Wharf from June 12thto be-gin (get it?!) your summer in style. These beautiful blossom rooms are completed with AstroTurf, a breath-taking display of vibrant roses and archways of intertwined vines – sadly they are artificial but your insta followers will not be able to tell the difference! This summer theme harnesses the little sun we have through big windows and glass panels on the roof to resemble an idyllic English garden in full bloom, just without the pesky flying things drowning in your drink! And with an abundance of potted plants and iconic Tanqueray bottles, there is certainly enough green to constitute a garden!

The opening night ensured that guests enjoyed a selection of flowery cocktails made with Tanqueray TEN gin and a DJ set from Orangesoda. Each cocktail fittingly includes a floral syrup, cordial or bitters and is topped off with a delicate edible flower. There are five concoctions to choose from at £10 each (which is very reasonable given London prices) which consists the following: Wicked, English Field, Bijoux, Greater London and Bergamia Collins; my personal favourite was the Bijoux with its fiery shade and smoky flavour! But of course that is my personal preference, you’ll have to head to the Tanqueray gardens to find out for yourself which one YOU prefer! Each drink is accompanied with slices of grapefruit, orange or lemon for a classic Pimms level of sophistication and to make you feel that bit healthier about all the alcohol you are consuming! I mean surely fruit balances out the calories of the cocktails?

The #BlossomCity Tanqueray Garden pop-up is open until June 30thand will help raise funds for The Lady Garden Foundation – a campaign by a group of British women whose aim is to change the future of female cancers. They are also endeavouring to empower women to talk more openly about cancer without shyness or shame-  I can certainly think of worse excuses to drink, can’t you? £1 from every bill will be donated to the Gynaecological Cancer Fund to contribute towards their mission to raise funds for research into improved diagnosis and treatment of the five gynaecological cancers: cervical, ovarian, womb, vaginal and vulval. Together, the pop –up and The Lady Garden Foundation aim to exceed the incredible amount of money raised last year, of over £60,000, and to help change lives.
