RuPaul’s Drag Race is the programme rolling off of all of my friends’ tongues at the moment. They are obsessed with it. The drama. The larger than life characters. The sass. It appears that they are not the only ones being dragged under (get it… pun intended) by this show. On Saturday the 25th of August, 100 Wardour St is hosting an exclusive drag inspired brunch that certainly grabs attention with its outrageously glamorous name: ‘Fabulous Brunch, Darling!’. The brunch promises to be packed full of crazy dragantics (this is officially my new favourite word), drag gameshows such as drag bingo, live DJs and dance troupes! However, if I had to describe the brunch in five words to someone, I would steal the promotional tag line on 100 Wardour St’s website: ‘Fizz, wigs, eggs and legs’ – how great is that?!
100 Wardour St provides the perfect location for this new, fully fabulous, and how can I forget to mention, (optional) bottomless brunch. Located in the heart of Soho, the venue is surrounded by sex shops, burlesque shows, as well as gay and lesbian bars– everything that is deliciously daring and which laughs in the face of mainstream conformity. As does this brunch. The hosts for this afternoon brunch include: Coco Vadose, Marsha Mallow, Mercedez Bends and Bunny Galore. If their names are anything to go by, I can already predict that this brunch will be a truly unforgettable way to spend your afternoon. The show will begin at 12pm and end at 5pm, ensuring guests experience a full day of live entertainment, and the biggest and best drag brunch that London has ever been witness to.
Now that I have introduced the entertainment side, let’s talk food. Alongside the drag inspired show, guests can tantalise their tastebuds with a three course brunch incorporating dishes such as:warm waffles, hash brown with nduja, Eggs Benedict with lemon hollandaise, and brioche French toast. Oh and there is an optional add on of 2 hours of bottomless fizz, which for me isn’t an option that needs to be considered twice! It gets better, this brunch also comes with several pricing options, catering for all different budgets and allowing guests to tailor their experience exactly how they like it.
