Vegan or non-Vegan, this event is for you (because let’s be real, who doesn’t love food?). Everyone is welcome to find out more about this fast growing and increasingly popular lifestyle choice which has seen thousands covert to a plant-based way of living. VegfestUK London is the biggest event of it’s kind in the UK and there is a reason for this! The event provides those who have already started their vegan journey, or those who are thinking of starting one, with inspiration and ways to overcome the challenge of substituting meat, dairy, eggs or fish in their meals. The event also incorporates everything from stimulating talks from top experts on Health, Fitness, Wellness, Activism, as well as Yoga sessions, a Cinema, Comedy area, an art exhibition, live music and over 275 stalls to shop from! Oh and of course, how can I forget to mention the food?! Whether you’re in the mood for brunch, lunch, dinner, snacks, or all of these, then VegfestUK will leave you fully satisfied. In fact, there is so much on offer, that you will have to jog home to work off the guilt of consuming so many calories!
Food wise you will feel like you have stepped into an edible heaven. This event comes with its own Vegan Food Village with 26 different caterers serving a mouth-watering selection of street food. You can expect to feast your eyes (and belly on) the likes of Jamaican curries, Mumbai-influenced street food, Ethiopian dishes, Vietnamese sandwiches, Mediterranean bakeries, American diner style eats, Turkish seitan doner, Sri Lankan pickled specialties, Caribbean style patties, to vegan editions of traditional British pub favourites such as burgers, hot dogs, mac n’ cheese (I know I’m already going to opt for this), cupcakes, pizzas, beers, ciders and wines…. And much much more!
Because in reality, despite criticisms of veganism as being too limited and not able to provide your body with the nutrients it needs to be healthy, the possibilities of plant-based cooking are endless, with the plant kingdom providing rainbow of options and substitutes. At this two-day festival, a number of talented chefs, who have made their mark on the culinary scene with their own ideas on getting the best out of exclusively plant-based ingredients, will be showcasing their own unique recipes in a series of cookery demos. These demos will be tailored to audiences of all levels of cooking so don’t worry if you aren’t quite Masterchef level! Confirmed cooking demos consist of Halloween and New Year Recipes, Sri Lankan Jackfruit and Chickpea Curry with Broccoli Rice, Vegan and Gluten-free BBQ Burgers stuffed with Vegan Cheese, and Vegan Sweet Treats to name a few.
The event will be open from 10am – 6pm on Saturday and from 10am – 5pm on Sunday. I’ve got my ticket already so what are you waiting for to get yours?
