The Importance of Hydration

We’ve all heard it before ‘drink plenty of water’ and all the benefits and what not. We get bored hearing the same thing over and over again. But recently, my health wasn’t the best and the one thing that saved me was water! Drinking water (either plain or in the form of other fluids) is essential to your health as it replaces the large amounts of water you lose during the day. The power and glory of water came forward to me like a blessing and I’m here to share this blessing and tell you some quick beauty benefits of water and the changes I noticed water made to my health and well-being.

Brain power

We are so tempted to just enter a café and buy the perfect coffee for our quick energy boost however, water increases brain power. Your brain is made up of 73% of water and so, drinking water improves your concentration and helps you to stay alert. And when you have plenty of energy and brain power, it also improves your overall mood as staying dehydrated can leave you feeling tired and irritable. It’s a natural stress reliever.

Get rid of those toxins

Just like we remove toxic people and energy from our lives, water does the exact same thing to your body – it helps to remove all the impurities and waste from your system by flushing them out through urination and sweat. Water is the river that helps to carry those toxins out of your body and keeps you feeling fresh. Once those impurities are gone, you’ll find your skin looking better than before, leaving it to be smooth in texture and achieving a more glowy appearance. Plenty of water also prevents the appearance of dullness and keeps the skin dense and elastic, reducing the appearance of fine lines.

Perfect skin?

Yes guys its true, drinking water helps you to achieve the perfect skin! As the toxins are removed, plenty of water keeps your skin youthful and privdes optimum skin moisture and hydration so it is less likely to dry out. Not only that, but drinking lots of water reduces wrinkles as it helps to increase elasticity and replenishes the skin tissues, leaving your skin feeling plump. You don’t really need those expensive anti-aging treatments because water is literally your skin’s best friend!

Breath check!

We all have had an experience of being next to someone who has bad breath so lets make sure that’s not us! Drinking water prevents bad breath as you wash away the leftover food particles and oral bacteria. Dehydration is often a cause of bad breath so let’s make sure you have a bottle of water with you at all times to prevent that.

Hair like Rapunzel

Its so important to drink water to maintain healthy hair growth and achieve the perfect soft and silky locks. Water is crucial to cell growth and if we become dehydrated, this can lead to the thinning and breakage of the hair. When having a shower, use cold water on your hair. The cold temperature constricts the hair cuticles which makes the strands of hair stronger and leaves hair looking glossy and shiny. Hot water damages our hair so make sure to keep the water lukewarm to cold to maintain healthy hair.

A natural manicure

Our hands go through a lot and so to make sure they’re being looked after and you’re giving the attention it needs, drink lots of water! This helps to strengthen nail growth and prevent nails from becoming brittle and dry. Some of us may work in tough environments and so we must make sure that we drink plenty of water in order to maintain good nail health.

Tip: If you’re not a fan of just plain water, fill your bottle or jug of water and add some lemon slices, mint leaves, cucumbers or any fruit of your choice to jazz up your water. Not only does this add flavour, but the benefits and nutrients of natural ingredients such as lemon are mixed in with the water so it makes your water the perfect concoction for healthy living!
