Happy Beauty Year!

Happy new year to you all! So, its new year and of course, we are determined to adopt the whole ‘new year, new me’ slogan to kickstart the year in a positive away! However, there were some pretty amazing makeup trends in 2018 which we can’t let go off completely this 2019! We’ve seen some impressive makeup looks in 2018 and we have to appreciate those amazing beauty moments! So here are some top beauty moments in 2018 (selected by me) which we can expect to continue this new year…

Purple Reign

Purple is such a beautiful colour if you know how to use it right. Ranging from monochromatic purple eyeshadow, dark plum shade lips and to lilac hair, there are endless possibilities of beauty looks to create with this versatile colour. One of my favourite purple looks in 2018 was Mrs Jonas’s makeup look at Meghan Markle’s and Prince Harry’s wedding which I must say, was for a royal occasion! Priyanka’s shimmery plum eye and lipstick complemented her skin tone so beautifully and stood out for the royal occasion. To create this look, her makeup artist revealed that he used: ‘the dark plum shade from Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Tisse Cambon on the outer corner of her eyes, and the pink shades from the palette mixed with Chanel Ombre Première Longwear Powder Eyeshadow in Rose Synthetique to create a gradation of pale pink shine in the inner corners.’ Add a flush of rosy pink blush and a warm plum tone lipstick and voila, you have achieved the perfect Priyanka Purple look (bit of a mouthful but it’s worth it!).

Powder Nails

Yes you heard right, powder nails! This new manicure hack is beauty miracle and lasts a full two weeks. Dip powder nails lasts longer than your gel mani. It’s something between a regular mani and fake nail – between base coats and a sealant, you dip your nails into a jar of your chosen colour nail powder and seal each coat of powder with protective clear top coat and the nails dry instantly. The results are impressive and can last for two weeks or more. This mani does not require any UV light for drying and is easy to do at home too. However, there is potential damage in terms of removing it like any acrylic or gel mani. As they say, do your research first before trying it yourself, but this trend is certainly one that will continue in 2019.

Bold Lip

Who doesn’t love a stand out moment? OK, I know there’s some of us who are not so confident with using bold colours but this is one trend that should certainly continue this new year, even if you try it with some hesitancy at first! Prepare a natural, barely-there base with your favourite bright lip colour and there you have it, your stand out lip colour is ready! You can do this look any time of the day and it is perfect for those of you who like to keep your look minimal but with that little added extra to help accentuate your face.

Glossy Makeup

Matte addicts look away because gloss is back and is shinier than ever. Now you all know how I always advice a dewy makeup look for any occasion as its my favourite type of makeup and we’ve all heard about glowing and highlighting to the extreme, but gloss makeup has become a beauty trend everyone wants to try. We don’t just want glossy lips, we also want to add gloss to our eyelids, the high points of our cheeks, nose and brow bone and even create a whole base with gloss.

Pink Highlighter

Pink highlighter instantly resonates with sparkly fairy dust! This highlighter is not like your generic golden, pearl or champagne shades but instantly adds that extra sparkle and pop of colour to your highlight. It blends seamlessly onto any skin tone and looks great with minimal makeup looks or brown eyeshadow. Dust this highlighter onto your usual highlight spots and see the magic…
