Remove, Wash and Scrub the Day Away

I am a fan of the frequent avant-garde, editorial, full-glam make-up on a daily basis. You would be amazed if I had any make-up remover left by the end of the week. It’s safe to say that I have tried and tested so many of them and so I had to make a list of the ones I recommend for purchase. My skin is a combination of oily and dry. Even with my dry cheeks, oily nose and extremely sensitive eyes, I’ve managed to find make-up removers that are perfect. Let’s go!

  1. DHC: Deep Cleansing Oil (£24.00)

I love this oil cleanser. The Deep Cleansing Oil has all the ingredients you want: olive oil, rosemary leaf oil and Vitamin E. It also practically melts away your make-up and dissolves impurities so your skin will be left feeling radiant and clean. As for application it’s simple: pump some onto dry hands and massage into your dry face. It will strip you of your waterproof mascara, intense makeup, protective sunscreen and that pollution that the city gives you for free. All that is left is to rinse off the oil cleanser with warm water, simple! I especially like this oil cleanser for its anti-oxidant action and it doubles as a brush cleanser. This one is great for ‘normal’ and combination skin.

  1. Clinique: Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips (£19.00)

This bad boy is for all skin types. It removes even the toughest make-up from your skin relatively quickly and is especially amazing for eye make-up, mascara and lipstick. It is famous for a reason! It is a little greasy at first, but it literally wipes away make-up residue effortlessly. This product is brilliant for the eyes as its non-irritating and has a non-stinging formula. It’s even ophthalmologist-tested, so it won’t irritate your eyes if you’re a contacts wearer!

  1. Fancl: Mild Cleansing Oil (£23.89)

This is my best-friend’s go-to make-up remover, and when she introduced it to me I was suddenly obsessed. Again, this oil cleanser does not leave any residue and removes your make-up and the daily grime without stripping the natural oil from your skin. We love a moisturised face here at the Style & Beauty team! It’s not as great as the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil when it comes to removing that extremely tough waterproof mascara, but it is still definitely worth a try especially for those with more sensitive skin.

  1. Nivea: Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover (£1.95)

This make-up remover consisting of two layers is another strong contender. The oil phase is there to remove even your toughest waterproof mascara and eye make-up. The aqueous phase protects and cares for your eyes and lashes. With this make-up remover you’ll find yourself rubbing your eyes a whole lot less and it also protects your eyelashes with its bi-phase formula. It’s brilliant for those who have sensitive eyes, like myself. Your eyes will be left feeling refreshened rather than raw with this make-up remover.

  1. Glossier: Milky Oil (£10.00)

The Milky Oil is a great buy if you want a very gentle make-up remover that removes long-wearing and waterproof make-up formulas. It’s so good you’ll find yourself rubbing and tugging much less, which is great because your face is not a battlefield. The formula consists of micellar water and oil; this dual-phase formula easily dissolves your make-up. It’s hypoallergenic, ophthalmologist-tested and safe fo sensitive eyes and lips. The formula contains great ingredients like Comfrey root extract and pro-vitamin B5, which will leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed after use. I also love the squeezable bottle design that makes the entire process mess-free. Be sure to check out this awesome vegan make-up remover.

  1. The Body Shop: Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover (£7.50)

This make-up remover is for my girls and guys with eyes that need a gentle touch. The Camomile Eye Make-Up Remover gently takes off and cleanses, leaving you with smooth and clean skin. It’s the perfect product for those with sensitive skin and contact lens wearers. There are no added fragrances, colour and alcohol; this is great as your skin and eyes won’t be irritated or feel like they have been stripped of moisture.

  1. Clarins: Instant Eye Make-Up Remover (£21.00)

The Instant Eye Make-Up Remover is another great bi-phase formula. The ingredients in this one are fantastic! We’ve got rose and cornflower waters that work to moisturise and soothe the skin, while the oils are amazing at softening and enhancing the cleansing abilities of the product. I love this dual-phase make-up remover as it does not sting my sensitive eyes and is great for all skin types. But, it’s even greater as it soothes the skin and strengthens the lashes. Don’t miss out on this divine make-up remover!

  1. Bioderma: Sensibio H2O Micellar Water (£10.80)

I have been through my fair share of really poor quality micellar water products this past year. But Bioderma really came through for me in my time of need and saved my sore eyes. I would even go as far to say that it’s the best micellar water out there. It’s not as cheap as other micellar water products, but since it actually gets the job done this one’s a steal! This is the gentle micellar water so give it a go if you’re a fan of micellar water.

  1. Lancôme: Bi-Facil Make-Up Remover (£26.00)

Here’s another cult classic remover. It’s soft and oily consistency is beautiful for your delicate eyes. You will find no trace of the day left on your face after using this make-up remover. It’s another great dual formula with the oil phase gently dissolving the make-up and the water phase to collect it all. I also loved this make-up remover as you’re left feeling fresh rather than greasy. This product is so effective that you won’t find yourself looking like a panda as there is little to no residue left behind!

  1. Bobbi Brown: Instant Long Wear Makeup Remover (£19.50)

This is another great dual-phase formula that quickly and gently removes any waterproof and long-wearing make-up. Make sure you shake it well before using so that it effectively removes those tough eye and lip formulas that you’ve been wearing since the morning. This formula is great for keeping the moisture in your skin, instead of stripping it like other tough make-up removers do.

You will be in bed so much faster with any one of these products. Make sure you take your make-up off every single night, otherwise you’ll be prone to premature ageing, irritation and breakouts. After slathering my face with all of these make-up removers, I urge you to try out some of them, and let us know what you think of them!
