Find your Foundation

Last year was filled with so many foundation launches it was hard to keep up, however I have been through so many of them in the past few years that I can now recommend some of the best foundations on the market at the moment. You can find anything from sheer to full coverage on this list. There is a good chance there is a foundation for you on this list!

Estée Lauder: Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF 10 (£34.00)

A cult-classic, this is a worry-free and long-wearing foundation, it doesn’t require much worrying as this product will stay fresh and look natural through anything the day throws at you. It’s a great option for those who need a foundation that is resilient against heat, humidity and all the activities throughout the day. This foundation won’t change colour, come off on your clothes or smudge, this is the product that will leave you looking flawless throughout the day. Purchase this if you want a medium coverage and buildable foundation that has a natural and semi-matte finish.

Dior: Forever Skin Glow (£37.00)

A current favourite of mine, maybe you should label me an avid fan of Dior foundations, this is a long-wearing foundation that leaves you with a radiant finish. It’s going to deliver you a flawless complexion that significantly reduces the appearance of your pores. There are skincare ingredients included in the formula that will enrich the skin. If you’re in the mood for a more matte finish, just pick up the alternative foundation, Dior Forever. This is the foundation for you if you want dewy skin from a product that is also non-comedogenic.

MAC: Face and Body Foundation (£30.00)

The MAC Face and Body Foundation is a fantastic starting point for anyone looking to begin their foundation journey. It’s very comfortable, lightweight, and gives you that low-to-medium buildable coverage for a natural satin finish. The formula is long-wearing, moisturising and it glides onto your face and body, nor does it change colour. Another great thing about this product is that it’s water-resistant, non-drying and is a good choice for all skin types including sensitive skin.

Hourglass: Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick (£42.00)

This is probably the only foundation stick that I am recommending on this list, but it gives you the same coverage as a concealer, the fluidity of a liquid foundation and the weightlessness of a powder. This is pigment in a stick that will erase anything you don’t want to see on your skin. It’s maximum coverage at its best, it hides all forms of discolouration and imperfections for twelve hours, but it’s still very easy to blend out.

Giorgio Armani Beauty: Luminous Silk Foundation (£43.00)

My favourite foundation for the summer, actually make that all year around, but especially for the summer. An extremely lightweight foundation that covers any imperfections and leaves you with a glowing complexion. It’s a foundation with buildable coverage that brightens your skin and improves the texture of it. Silk is in the name, it’s also the texture of your skin after you apply this foundation to your skin, this foundation is truly marvellous.

This foundation is sweat-resistant and humidity-resistant. It’s also paraben-free, sulphate-free, sulfite-free and phthalate-free.

Kevyn Aucoin: The Foundation Balm (£42.00)

Possibly the only foundation balm on this list, too. It’s a complexion-correcting balm that will leave you with radiant skin and flawless coverage. This balm will blur your imperfections and will blend seamlessly into your skin. The formula contains avocado oil, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E. You will be getting healthy and supple skin thanks to that boost of hydration from those ingredients. The Kevyn Aucoin Foundation Beam is going to give you full coverage and radiance in one fell swoop.

This is suitable for all skin types and is non-comedogenic. Now, this another great blending of skincare with make-up, so check this one out if you have more sensitive skin.

Chanel: Healthy Glow Foundation SPF 25 (£40.00)

If you want that no make-up make-up look, then Chanel has got your back, especially with this invisible foundation that creates a natural healthy glow. You’ll be looking radiant with this product that will protect your skin from harsh environmental conditions. It’s best to apply this fountain with your fingertips to attain that natural glow. This is the foundation to even out your skin tone and adapts to the shape of your face.

NARS: Sheer Glow Foundation (£33.50)

It pretty much does what it says on the bottle, this foundation is a sheer and buildable foundation, with a natural looking finish. It’s paraben, alcohol and fragrance free, too. This is a foundation that will even your skin tone in an effortless way. You will be left with hydrated, softer and smoother skin thanks to the skincare benefits included in the formula. Charlotte Tilbury: Airbrush Flawless Foundation (£34.00)

Charlotte Tilbury wasn’t wrong when she added the “Flawless is a Feeling” tagline to the product. This is an amazing foundation at giving you a radiant and pore-less-looking complexion. This is one of those foundation with long-lasting powers, is really weightless and has a full coverage formula with a natural matte finish. So, if you fear looking shiny, this is a foundation for you. I love how Charlotte Tilbury blends skincare with make-up. Be sure to check out this sweat-proof, water-proof, humidity-proof and transfer-resistant foundation.

Lancôme: Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation (£34.00)

Another cult-classic, the Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation is long-lasting and gives you the full coverage you’re looking for, and you won’t be left with cakey skin. This product is about looking good and feeling comfortable in your own skin. It’s all a full coverage foundation that requires little touch ups throughout the day thanks to the longevity of the formula. You’ll also find that it’s transfer free and smudge free. If you have oiler skin, this is a great option for you, with the perlite and silica being two extremely effective oil-absorbing ingredients.

Pat McGrath: Sublime Perfection Foundation (£60.00)

I was blown away by this foundation, it’s worth the hype, especially if you’re interested in a radiant and dewy finish. It’s weightless, has a sheer-to-medium coverage, and gives you the luxurious and silky skin finish that you have been looking for. This foundation is long-wearing, self-setting and post-perfecting with a satin finish. A nourishing formula, it’s designed to help battle against the formation of wrinkles by preserving the hydrolipidic film barrier of the skin, and it will boost the hydration of your skin thanks to the ceramides and hyaluronic acid. This is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a medium coverage foundation for a day-to-day basis.

Tom Ford: Traceless Perfecting Foundation SPF 15 (£66.00)

The Traceless Perfecting Foundation will leave you with a smooth and natural-finish. A long-wearing foundation, that is humidity-resistant, and it also moisturises and evens out your skin tone. This product is a brilliant choice for warmer weather or if you’re about to work up a sweat throughout the day. Using this product you will get a supple and flawless canvas to complete the rest of your make-up. An excellent option if you want medium-to-full coverage. Another great candidate if you want to start incorporating sun protection into your make-up as this product will protect you from UVA and UVB damage. Tom Ford is all about symmetry, structure and perfection – you will find nothing less in this foundation bottle.

La Mer: Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation SPF 20 (£90.00)

This is a virtually weightless foundation that has long-lasting and buildable coverage. The Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation takes the benefits of skincare from the company and blends it into this foundation. Your skin will be left hydrated with a healthy-looking colour. This is radiance in a bottle. Make sure to shake the bottle well, and smooth the product onto your face with your fingertips or a foundation brush, then blend outward from the centre down to your neck to achieve that perfect and flawless base for the rest of your make-up. This is probably one of the best foundations I have gotten my hands on and is worth every penny.

Hopefully your mission in finding the perfect foundation has been made that little bit easier with this list. I have tried them, so you don’t have to, and I can say that these are certainly some of the best you’ll find on the market. Let us know which foundation you love the most!
