It’s All About Vitamin C: My top Vitamin C products that won’t break the bank

What I’ve gathered from my lockdown research into the world of skincare is that Vitamin C products can be easily incorporated into any skincare routine and is the superfood for the skin. It is also safe to use on most skin types; only in the rarest of occasions on sensitive skin will it cause a minor irritation. The main points to know about Vitamin C (or ascorbic acid) products, is that it hydrates, brightens, helps fade under-eye circles, protects against sun damage and evens out your skin tone. The biggest factor to celebrate about Vitamin C is that it helps repair damaged skin cells by promoting collagen synthesis. Collagen makes up nearly 80% of our skin, so start taking care of that skin at a younger age! If you want to see my favourite Vitamin C products on a budget all under £20, carry on reading!

THE ORDINARY – Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% (30ml)
£8.90
The Ordinary products are raved about for a reason, their products include a high concentration of pure ingredients for a lower price, unlike many serums out there on the market. There are no oils or silicones in this product as it is water based so perfect for oily skin and acne prone skin. (A tip for those with acne prone skin, you can still use this product if you are treating your skin with benzoyl peroxide, however, only use this serum in the day and your acne treatment product at night.)

THE ORDINARY – Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% (30ml)
£10.00
For those with sensitive skin and oily skin, this product has been labelled as a great ‘starter’ vitamin C product as it only has 8% of the acid. It is normal to feel a little tingling sensation with this serum. This product is also water based and oil free so will absorb amazingly into the skin.

THE BODY SHOP – Vitamin C Glow Revealing Liquid Peel (145ml)
£18.50
This transforming gel to peel consistency, removes dead skin cells gently. I use a penny size amount or one pump amount, two to three times a week and it reveals fresh skin underneath which feels gorgeous and soft.

((Top Tip – store these products away from sunlight to prevent oxidation))

THE BODY SHOP – Vitamin C Skin Reviver
£17.00
If you’re looking for a gentle Vitamin C product in a cream consistency this is the product for you. It is great for dry skin as it leaves skin smooth and soft and can be used after moisturizing. It is also great to use as a base for makeup and a little amount goes a long way.

This has a 5-star rating and also includes Witch Hazel. It’s a toner in the form of a mist and is advised to be used twice daily before you use serums and moisturize to effectively cleanse the skin. Much like the Body Shop this brand is also cruelty free!
