#BLM: In Loving Memory of George Floyd

I am exhausted of seeing familiar faces
laying dead on the ground
I want to start a revolution and scream and shout and –
but it all falls flat
as another black body is carried away
The media twists and turns my head in a new direction
and glues my mouth shut with an understanding, they could never possess
with promises of ‘justice’ that never amount to anything
The police who are meant to protect us
keep legally murdering us
and I keep feeling faint
knowing there is no one to call,
in a system that was never built to protect
(someone that looks like me)
