Our graduation ceremony has been postponed. It doesn’t mean we can’t put on our best makeup for the virtual graduation while we’re waiting!

This is another idea I pitched a few months back for the final physical issue of our magazine in the academic year. Of course, with COVID-19, many of us have had our graduations postponed until a physical ceremony is possible. Until then we’re going to have virtual celebrations for these momentous achievements in our life. So, I’m giving you the makeup looks you can give a whirl for your virtual celebrations! This one is for all my fellow finalists. I want to wish everyone a huge congratulations on their results. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us and it has been an amazing three years together!

University Colours

Sure, you can wear your traditional black eyeliner with that wing you have perfected over the years, but don’t you want to try something new? How about a little bit of graphic liner? You can even change it up and bring colour. You can even bring our university colours to the mix, at Queen Mary they are blue and yellow.

Pinch of Purple

There’s always the option to go nude or to spice up your nudes. This is not the place for that! I say add a little bit of colour to compliment your outfit or stand out from your outfit at our virtual graduation ceremonies. It’ll be unexpected unlike the nudes which come up a lot.

Double the Blush

If you really want to spice up simplicity then you’ve come to the right place. This is what I do for any special occasion I don’t have enough time to decide on what makeup I want to do. Bring your blush to attention. Add it to your cheekbones and then bring it up to brown bone and your eyelids. Highlighter. Gloss. You’re done!

Pretty Pearls

You can do a lot with a few pearls in your hands. This is for those of us who want to bring Euphoria-style makeup to our graduation ceremonies. You can gently dot these pearls around your eyelids or create a cute eyeliner design with them.

Glitter Galore

It’s hard to go wrong with glitter since a little bit can go a long way. You can take a bit of a shimmer shade and simply swipe it across your lids. Alternatively, you can bring a blend of different shimmers, metallics and glitters together to draw maximum attention to your eyes.

Glossy Lids

A glossy eyelid is great for a virtual graduation! It gives the eyelids this gorgeous glassy look that draws more attention to the pigment of the colour you have chosen. You can be really adventurous and choose colours that you normally wouldn’t wear for this one.

Bringing Back the 60s

We’re all feeling the sixties nostalgia in the fashion and beauty industry. I am still trying to get the hang of it, but it’s coming along nicely, at least when I have really thick lines that work. These eyeliner designs will really make your eyes pop and make you stand out from the 2020 crowd!

Say Yes to Yellow

Don’t sleep on this colour, especially if you’re wearing black, white or beige. This extra touch of colour will brighten up your ensemble and add all the more colour and joy to this momentous day. Anything from mustard to lemon gets the all-clear from me.

Finishing Touches

You don’t have to stray out of your skill set for a killer look, after all, it’s all about the finishing touches. You can add that little touch of colour to the inner corners of your eyes. Another option could be to add a different colour of glitter to contrast with your eyeshadow colour. It’s the little things that count here.

Feeling Peachy

At this point, just throw out your nude palette, because you shouldn’t be sleeping on peach and orange tones either. It will warm up any face and will bring warmth to the camera for your virtual celebration. Add it to your cheeks, your lids, your lips! You can’t go wrong with this colour either!
