It’s officially August! I’m back with more monthly favourites from CUB Magazine. I’ve got everything from skincare to haircare and from fashion to beauty.
It’s been a relatively slow month and a slow summer. We’re still in the middle of a global pandemic after all. I haven’t been out and about much. This means my bank account has been thanking me a lot! Nonetheless, I do have some items that I have been loving this month, ones that I have always loved and newcomers in my life. Let’s get started!
Drunk Elephant: Beste™ No.9 Jelly Cleanser ($32.00) – Vinny Sandhu, Style & Beauty Writer
I was pretty reluctant to change up my daily facial cleanser, but my previous cleanser was drying out my already dry cheeks. I have combination skin which means my forehead and nose are seriously oily and my cheeks are dull and dry. It’s safe to say that finding a cleanser that can clean my skin without affecting an oily or dry area too much is hard. This cleanser has achieved it! This is a jelly cleanser that removes excess oil, pollution and dirt from the day without drying out my skin. It doesn’t incorporate any fragrances or essential oils, which means it’s appropriate for every skin type, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling irritated or sensitive.
Davines: NOUNOU Hair Mask ($36.00) – Vinny Sandhu, Style & Beauty Writer
I am obsessed with this hair mask. I might need it in a bulk tub. I put my hair through a lot, so this mask is perfect, as it gives deep nourishment for treated and very dry hair. My hair has never been treated, however, I do take a hairdryer and styling tool to every time I wash it. It’s filled with Vitamin E! This mask gives me the hydration and nourishment my dry strands have been begging me for. There is Olive Butter which helps to moisturise and soften the hair. Then there is the Jojoba Oil which makes it shiny and ensures the frizz and flyaways stay away. It’s the Cherry Oil and Rhizobian that adds body and deeply moisturisers my hair.

Every family in the Essential Haircare line is characterized by the use of one specific active ingredient from a Slow Food Foundation in Italy🌱 For NOUNOU we use a Fiaschetto Tomato extract from Mr. Mario Di Latte’s farm in Serranova di Carovigno, Puglia. @slowfooduk #sustainablebeauty #slowfood #buylocal
Clarins: Blue Orchid Treatment Oil (£35.00) – Vinny Sandhu, Style & Beauty Writer
I have been using this oil for a few years now. It falls in and out of my skincare routine depending on how my cheeks want to act. My dry cheeks deserve nothing but the best! This face treatment oil is perfect for those with dehydrated skin. It will tone the skin, restore its radiance and revitalise it by moisturising the skin. This is a god-send in the winter. It smells and feels amazing thanks to the plant extracts used to help rebalance the skin’s moisture levels. It contains Blue Orchid, Patchouli and Rosewood. There is also Hazelnut Oil to prevent any moisture loss and the formation of fine lines.
Aēsop: Geranium Leaf Hydrating Body Treatment (£25.00) – Vinny Sandhu, Style & Beauty Writer
I must admit that one those hot days the heat is really getting to my skin. Those really warm evenings have become much easier thanks to this medium-weight oil. This is a highly concentrated and revitalising blend of botanicals. There is so much Vitamin E packed in this formula, your skin will be thanking you, meanwhile the nut oils will soften and nourish your dry skin. Think of this treatment oil as a revival for your dry skin. After a good shower use this to have hydrated and supple skin. The key ingredients are Geranium Lead, Bergamot Rind and Mandarin Rind, leaving you with a fresh and citrusy scent to get you through the day and the night.
COS: Knitted Crop Jacket (Brown) (£49.50) – Vinny Sandhu, Style & Beauty Writer
I know, the weather has been fluctuating a lot recently, but that’s British weather for you. I needed a jacket that would work for both warm and cool temperatures. This is a really cool contemporary and minimalist coat that will have you looking stylish in both types of weather. The material is a technical fabric that has a knitted quality. I love the elasticated hem at the back that adds a little bit of shape to the coat. The pointed collar, long sleeves, and cropped hem works really well with my flare trousers. I got this one in a chocolate brown because not every coat needs to black and it has brought warmth to my collection of jackets and coats.
Starface: Hydro-Stars™ (£16.00) – Vinny Sandhu, Style & Beauty Writer
I have raved about these hydrocolloid patches once and I must certainly do it again! I was in serious need of these this month with a handful of bad breakouts on my dry cheeks when my previous face cleanser was not doing its job! Alas, these stars saved me, they are truly my lucky stars. They pretty much do what they say they will do. They will absorb the fluid, shield your pimples from outside bacteria and prevent skin picking. Yes, skin picking is one of my worst habits. Where do you think all those scars came from? These are also so cute, I could never resist and you should get some, too!
There were so many fabulous products that were beloved this month and I hope you found something you will also come to love very soon. Be sure to check back in next month for more favourites from August!
