Self-care can come to us in many forms, this is something I feel we have all learnt within our time at home and change of lifestyle! When concerning beauty and style, it too can be a form of self-care. With all this time on our hands, why not put more time into doing what’s best for the mind and body! Here’s a couple of things I have been keeping in mind:
1. Decluttering and reusing old clothes
Sustainable fashion has recently become the forefront of fashion. This is why it seems like the perfect time to make use of apps like Depop to sell your unwanted clothes or even donate them! It helps reduce the amount of people buying into fast fashion as well as reducing the amount of landfill clothes take up. If you are feeling creative, you could even redesign your old clothes into new pieces! You can spend a lot less to feel good about yourself as well as learn handy new skills. Your wardrobe can shape how you feel, so let that be known throughout what you wear.
2. Finding confidence in yourself
Confidence can be hard to come by feeling cooped up at home 24/7. There seems little point in making an effort to get ready when we aren’t doing anything. This is why it’s important to still make yourself feel confident! Who cares if you don’t have anywhere to go, try out a new makeup look or try putting on something you’ve never been brave enough to wear. Having more time to reflect on ourselves doesn’t always have to be negative, it can be a way to reinvent yourself and your personal style.
3. A self-care routine
A self-care routine is super important in representing you. It can also help you feel more refreshed and motivated throughout the day. The first step to feeling productive could just be by doing your skincare routine. It could even be by putting on an outfit you feel confident in (which isn’t always pyjamas) that give you a sense of normality. Self-care can fall under many forms and can be as simple or as complicated as you like. As long as it makes you feel good, there’s no wrong answer!
4. Being kind to yourself
The most important self-care step you can take is to be kind to others and especially yourself. Making time to look after you for only a couple of minutes within the day can do wonders. Whether this is within fashion and style or other hobbies like journaling or going on a walk. They seem like little things but can make your days at home feel a little more structured and put together.
