Last week we had the hottest day of the year so far and it is fair to say that Summer is fast approaching. To pay homage to the warm months that are set to hit us, on the 3rdof May Quaglino’s will be launching a selection of new spritz cocktails and a complimentary Aperitivo Counter at the bar. This is all part of their attempt to ‘heat up’ their Q Aperitivo menu and to make Quaglino’s the cocktail hotspot for the public. Every Thursday from 5-8pm, guests can enjoy refreshing Venice-inspired cocktails that will transport them away from the city and into the very heart of Italy.
The new cocktails are inspired by ‘Aperitivo’, an important tradition in Italy, which refers to a popular time of the day when you meet friends after work for a light bite to eat and to drink cocktails before dinner. So what has Italy got to do with Quaglino’s exactly? Well, the restaurant and bar was actually founded by Italian born Giovanni Quaglino so it is no surprise that Quaglino’s wants to provide guests with a taste of its father’s roots and heritage. The Aperitivo Counter will feature a charcuterie platter, arancini and feta stuffed petters and many more delicious options. The Counter will be offered complimentary when guests order an Aperitivo cocktail.
So without further ado, let us move onto the cocktails themselves… Guests can choose from a selection of eight expertly crafted cocktails, three of which are new and consist of:
La Serenissima – Aperol, Italicus bergamot liqueur and Tanqueray gin lengthened with fresh watermelon and prosecco.
Aqua Vita – Moscato Grappa infused with Strawberries, honey, blood-orange and lemon served in a coupe “the sour way” with a white horseradish flower.
Flegrea – Rucola infused Tanqueray Gin, Dry vermouth and Maraschino stirred down with coriander bitter and a dash of Chartreuse liqueur. Served straight up.
Existing Q Aperitivo cocktails include Conte Cavour, La Scala, La Gondola, Ponte Vecchio Il Pupoall inspired by different regions in Italy.
All cocktails are priced at £13 which is reasonable for the city, especially given the fact that every Thursday from the 3rdof May, London’s most authentic Italian live bands will perform exclusively at the bar for Q Aperitivo guests.
Quaglino’s itself is an iconic restaurant, bar and late night venue situated within the streets of Mayfair. Since its relaunch in 2014, Quaglino’s serves a modern European menu with vibrant and fresh seasonal ingredients and world class cocktails. It is perfect for dining or cocktails, or both!
