Earlier this month we saw the biggest event in Hollywood, the Oscars. Yet despite the usual Oscars excitement, this year’s looks were a bit disappointing, however I have managed to pull together a few favourites from the collection of boring and unexciting looks.
Florence Pugh’s teal colour dress was an elegant showstopper. The billowing skirt cinched in at the waist with a matching coloured belt and cut perfectly to reveal her matching coloured heels. The richness of the silky teal had the potential to be overwhelming, yet the perfect cut of the dress, the simplicity of Pugh’s make up and the up-do hairstyle worked to make a beautifully delicate ruffle moment.
A Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen moment on the red carpet. Rooney Mara is the perfect fit for Burton’s gothic Victorian aesthetic she instills into so many of the dresses at Alexander McQueen. The delicacy of the lace, paired with the unique cut outs all tied together with a messy ruffled skirt created a uniquely beautiful look.
Billie Eilish again rocked the signature casual yet classy aesthetic she has been working this entire awards’ season. I’m obsessed with boucle jackets, therefore seeing one rocked for a black tie event, with matching trousers too, has made my heart flutter. Again Eilish makes the branded monogram work without being tacky, with the Chanel logo placed on the jacket, on her nails and the brand’s name written on her 00s style fingerless lace gloves.
